The speedy style watch is synonymous with astronauts’ time pieces, given that they were NASA issued, most notably for the Apollo Missions. The speedies were to be delivered to the astronauts closer to launch, so NASA astronaut William Pogue took it upon himself to grab a Seiko 6139 which he then wore as he piloted the crew for the first US Space Station, Skylab.
This piece is a homage to that watch, known as the “Pogue”. The original “Pogue” is a chronograph, we understand that’s not everybody’s thing, especially for an everyday wear, and double especially for a watch as quirky as this. So we made a standard automatic 3 hand with date complication version to be worn every day, once in a while as a conversation piece, or just whenever you feel like stargazing.
This case shape isn’t particularly as “stylish” as the heavy hitters in the watch industry, it also isn’t as “trendy” as the household name models, but this watch is so confident in it’s own oddities that you can’t help but fall in love with it. With a “Pepsi” colored rotating bezel, a honey yellow dial, hints of red in both the chapter ring and in the second hand, a case shape that’s straight out of the 70’s, to be worn comfortably no matter what you’re doing.
